EVERY SWEET BUSINESS HAS A STORY… HERE’S MINE.

There was a time when buying biscuits in a can or picking up a cake from the grocery store simply wasn’t in the budget.

​

So, I did what I could—I learned to bake. 

​

I started practicing pound cakes in different flavors, cookies, and desserts. And let me tell you… those first few attempts were NOT good! 

​

But I kept going.

​

I practiced. I experimented. I failed. I tried again. And eventually, I perfected some of my favorite treats—especially my Lunchroom Butter Cookies, Butter Pecan Squares, and 7UP Pound Cake. 

​

What started as something I did out of necessity quickly became something I absolutely loved.

​

I began sharing my desserts with family and friends, and there was something so special about watching someone take that first bite and smile. Knowing that something I created could bring someone a little happiness brought ME so much joy.

​

Then came my mom’s encouragement. She pushed me to think outside the box—to create desserts that were different, creative, and made with the flavors I genuinely loved.

​

Friends became my taste testers. I would create something new, let them try it, listen to their feedback, and sometimes… it would make its way onto the menu!

​

Baking became my happy place.

​

On difficult days, baking gave me peace. It became my creative outlet, my therapy, and one of the ways I expressed love.

​

I started bringing homemade desserts to gatherings and giving them as gifts. Before long, family and friends started saying:

“Can you make this for me?”
“Can I order some?”
“You NEED to sell these!”

​

For years, I blessed people with my desserts simply because I loved doing it.

​

Then my husband, Sherman Barnett, encouraged me to take the next step:

“You should be charging for this!”

And that little push changed everything. 

​

I began researching ingredient costs, pricing, and the business side of baking. My dear friend and Sistah, Anjenita Davis, helped me work through pricing and develop my dessert menu.

​

I also took the next step in making my passion a legitimate business.

 

I completed food and sanitation training and earned my Food Safety Manager certification through the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals, following Conference for Food Protection standards.

​

Then came my EIN, state registration, and the official beginning of TB Delicious Delights. 

​

Today, I’m still baking from Matteson, Illinois, where this journey began.

​

And I still believe that every dessert should be made with quality ingredients, creativity, and LOVE.

​
